September 3, 2009

Though Rick Ross applauds Eminem for his verse on Forever with Drake, Kanye and Lil Wayne, Ross still wants to battle Em. Check out the clip below

When Rick Ross thinks about Eminem making a Mariah Carey dis record instead of responding to his jabs toward Slim Shady, the Miami Bawse just cracks up laughing. “You know what my thoughts are, man. We just laugh at it,” Ross told us recently in New Mexico.

“He’s smart,” Ross said about Eminem not addressing him and avoiding a rhyme battle. “That’s what I’m waiting for. That’ll be a gift — a great Christmas present for me. But y’all know what I think. I think everybody knows. It’s all ‘hood, man. Shout-out to Mariah Carey, she needs to reach out to me. We could eradicate some things.”

The vibe is not 100 percent antagonistic, however, when it comes to Ross’ thoughts on Marshall Mathers — he actually has some praise for Em’s latest verse.

“On a better note, I wanna shout out Eminem. I heard a record he did with Lil Wayne, Drake and Kanye West. Eminem, you’re smart. I understand … we all know what you doing now. You’re moving on to better things. Like I said, he might wanna do a record with me. We here. Triple Cs.”

Ross, the Carol City Cartel, Masspike Miles and the rest of his musical family are putting out their mixtape Maybach Music Part III: White Sand real soon. The title signifies that they started in the streets and are now indulging in the finer things in life. “We still on that hustle,” Ross said. “I’m hungry like a new artist. It’s a double disc of all new music as well as a DVD. It’s taking the street mixtapes to the next level.”

Triple Cs are filming the video for their first single, “Go,” with the Birdman featured in the production. The album Custom Cars and Cycles is due to drop this fall.

Just for the record, Eminem is top ever. Ross would get smashed to pieces, truthfully.

Jay Rock x Lil Wayne x K-Dot – “Colors”

September 3, 2009

For day 28 of his takeover, Jay Rock recruits Lil Wayne and K-Dot on the track Colors. Personally, I think that Wayne had the best verse on the track, but you should be the judge of that. Link below folks.

Video: Lil Wayne Explains Why He Stopped Writing Raps

September 3, 2009

In the video below, Cortez Bryant, Lil Wayne’s manager, and Wayne explain why he stopped writing down raps and how he has evolved as an MC from the process. Wayne stated that he has become a better MC and that he is forced to rap about real life issues.

In the rapper’s upcoming “Behind the Music” special, set to air September 10 on VH1, he talks openly about scrapping his rhyme books during a furious recording session, where he transformed from Cash Money’s young sidekick to the label’s heavyweight superstar.

“The only way I won’t be able to rap anything I’ve written again is to record everything I’ve ever written before once,” he explained of what led to his now notebook-free style.

The result was a 35-minute freestyle called “10,000 Bars,” on which Wayne’s disjointed rhymes, parts of various working songs, become a cathartic release and set the tone for his memorable mixtape run and a series of Carter albums.

“That changed Wayne as an artist,” his longtime manager, Cortez Bryant, said.

Sidebar: Still don’t know about Jay Sean? You must be sleeping then. Jay Sean is Lil Wayne’s latest artist to sign to Cash Money Records. Though I am not too sure if you know who he is exactly, I do know that you have heard his latest single, Down, featuring Lil Wayne, which by the way, is a Top 5 single on iTunes.

Thoughts?

Good looks to Brent over at ICED for the video.

No need to explain this track. You see the names, you know the talent and you want to listen. Link below.

As Said by MTV:

“Forever” will appear as part of a collection of tracks inspired by the film (due in theaters October 2), with the soundtrack coming on September 29 on Interscope Records. Polow Da Don will executive produce the set, which will also include songs by T.I., Mary J. Blige, and Young Jeezy, according to Rich Paul, who works with James as a part of their marketing company LRMR.

Paul said that originally “Forever” was just going to be Drake and Kanye West.

“It was done, it was just Drake and Kanye, and then they went back and got two more prolific talents and it just made it even crazier, ” Paul told MTV News late Tuesday. “They blessed Drake crazy.”

The song came together when Gee Roberson, an executive at Atlantic Records who also manages West and helps to oversee the careers of Drake and Wayne, visited LeBron during the playoffs in May.

“He came over and played this — it was me, LeBron and Maverick [Carter, James’ manager],” said Paul, who will co-executive produce the project for James’ camp. “And he played the track, it was hot. It went right with the movie, it was like perfect for a moment that you want to be forever. And when he decided to put Wayne, Drake, Kanye and Eminem on it [together], it just makes it better. It’s one of those songs fans will really want to hear forever. It’s that type of feeling.”

Birdman x Drake x Lil Wayne – “Money to Blow”

August 24, 2009

Why Drake handed this song off to Birdman, I have no clue. I do know that I have been waiting for the CDQ version of this joint to drop, and here it is today. Though I am not a fan of Birdman, this song does go in and it deserves a download.
