Drake x DJ Drama – “Interview” (8/27/09) [15 minutes]

August 31, 2009

The other day, Drake called in to chop with up with DJ Drama, covering issues about his favorite Forever verse, his upcoming knee surgery, mentions that he’s currently in LA working with Timbaland & Justin Timberlake, who he wants to work with for Thank Me Later, along with Jay-Z, Andre 3000 and Sade, the So Far Gone retail and more.

Courtesy of MTV’s Jayson Rodriguez:

“My favorite line on the song, though, is when Wayne says, ‘Life is such a roller coaster and then it drops/ but what should I scream for, this is my theme park.’ That right there, word-play-wise, that’s my favorite. But everybody does their thing. Kanye does Kanye. Eminem raps in a way where nobody might have heard him rap in a long time and says some things that are great for his fans to hear. I’m just proud to even be on the record. People are telling me they like my verse. I’m just happy I held my own.”

So that record [potentially with Andre 3000 and Sade] is something important to me. Obviously [I’m gonna work with] Wayne. I’m out here really trying to get something special with Justin. Hovito [Jay-Z], we might need to get him. The track on this album was a real catchy joint. But people wanna hear us rap together. That’s one of my goals, to have that track with me and Jay. Maybe don’t even have a hook, maybe. Have just like you haven’t heard him in a minute, just going bars for bars. That might be something you’ll hear on the album.”

Keith Haring Chairs via Vilac

August 31, 2009

It seems as if Keith Haring’s art is being translated to all sorts of objects lately, especially after seeing Vilac’s Haring inspired domino set, via Curated Magazine. Produced by Vilac, the playful seating furniture is sized for children and built with the same exacting attention to detail as the company puts into all their wooden toys. Available now from Unica Home, so check them out.

Seeing Keith Haring’s art work being put into household items brings excitement to me. I love the chairs, what do you think?

Video: Nabil for Jeremy Scott

August 30, 2009

Film director, photographer and visionary, Nabil, puts together a video as a pseudo-tribute to American Fashion designer, Jeremy Scott. I love the video, so I wanted to share it with you all. Enjoy.

Oh and as a side note, the song is Get It Up by Esau Mwamwaya, featuring MIA and Santigold.

Video: Mehmet Akten – “Body Paint”

August 30, 2009

Created by Mehmet Akten, “Body Paint”is an interactive installation and performance allowing users to paint on a virtual canvas with their body, interpreting gestures and dance into evolving compositions. Pretty cool if you ask me.

Custom software analyzes live feed from infra-red cameras in real-time, and converts shape and motion into colors, drips and brush-strokes. The software was written in C++ using the open-source toolkit openFrameworks and computer vision library openCV.

The installation is designed to work with any number of people and is scalable to cover small or large areas. The interaction is very simple – movement creates paint. Hidden in the simplicity, are many layers of subtle details. Different aspects of the motion – size, speed, acceleration, curvature, distance all have an effect on the outcome – strokes, splashes, drips, spirals – and is left up to the users to play and discover.

While the installation is suitable for a single user, when multiple users are present a new dynamic emerges between people. A user-to-user interaction is born when the audience start playing with each other through the installation, throwing virtual paint at each other, trying to splash their friends, working collaboratively to create shared artwork, or mischievously trying to vandalize others’ work.

XV x M.A.S.H. – “Benjamin Button” (Prod. by Bach Logic)

August 30, 2009

XV, joined by the Jersey duo of M.A.S.H., goes in over a Bach Logic beat. Personally, people are sleeping on XV and need to wake up because his lyrics and flow are admirable. Link below.

Amerie x Lil Wayne – “Heard Em All” (Remix)

August 30, 2009

The martian, Lil Wayne, adds a verse to Amerie’s latest single, Heard Em All. Personally, without Wayne, this song would not play at all. Link below for all the Wayne and/or Amerie fans.

Video: Mary J. Blige x Drake – “The One”

August 30, 2009

And we finally get a visual to Mary J. Blige’s collaborative joint with Toronto’s own, Drake. Though the song is not a favorite of mine coming from Mary’s camp, Drake did do his thing on his verse and in the video. Thoughts?

Vodpod videos no longer available.

Created a big enough buzz yet?

R.I.P. Adam “DJ AM” Goldstein

August 30, 2009

Enough said. Rest in peace to one of the great DJ’s of all time.

NEW YORK (AP) — DJ AM, the sought-after disc jockey who became a celebrity in his own right with high-profile romances and a glamorous lifestyle, was found dead Friday at his apartment, which had drug paraphernalia in it, a law enforcement official said.

Paramedics had to break down the door to his Manhattan apartment before they found his body at about 5:20 p.m., the official told The Associated Press on condition of anonymity because family hadn’t been notified. There was no evidence of foul play, the official said.
