Enough said. Rest in peace to one of the great DJ’s of all time.

NEW YORK (AP) — DJ AM, the sought-after disc jockey who became a celebrity in his own right with high-profile romances and a glamorous lifestyle, was found dead Friday at his apartment, which had drug paraphernalia in it, a law enforcement official said.

Paramedics had to break down the door to his Manhattan apartment before they found his body at about 5:20 p.m., the official told The Associated Press on condition of anonymity because family hadn’t been notified. There was no evidence of foul play, the official said.

Les Paul (June 9, 1915 – August 13, 2009)

August 14, 2009

Les Paul, pioneer of the solid-body electric guitar and multi-track recording, has passed away today due to complications from pneumonia. Many modern day developments, such as overdubbing, delay effects, phasing effects and much more, that we take for granted as musicians were first thought of by the legendary Les Paul.

Les Paul, who pioneered the solid-body electric guitar later wielded by a legion of rock ‘n’ roll greats, died Thursday of complications from pneumonia. He was 94. According to Gibson Guitar, Paul died at White Plains Hospital. His family and friends were by his side. As an inventor, Paul also helped bring about the rise of rock ‘n’ roll with multitrack recording, which enables artists to record different instruments at different times, sing harmony with themselves, and then carefully balance the tracks in the finished recording.

Simply put, there would not be Quincy Jones, J. Dilla, Kanye West, No I.D., or any other legendary music producers.

A Tribute: Better On The Other Side Video

July 1, 2009

In a past post, I introduced The Game’s Better on the Other Side (A Tribute to MJ) that featured Chris Brown, Diddy, Polow Da Don, Mario Winans, Usher, and Boyz II Men and also has production by DJ Khalil, and today I am dropping the behind the scenes footage video to the track. I actually really enjoy the song and think that it is a quality tribute to the late, Michael Jackson. Check out the video below.

Got the bad news about MJ and I called Game, since I know he was a fan of MJ also. He said ”I gotta pay my respects. I’m doing a tribute song!” My first thoughts were to edit a tribute video from Taydoe TV. When he came up with this brilliant idea, it was only right to collaborate and direct a video to accompany the song. I sent one camera to the hospital, one camera to the house and one camera to the studio to ensure we cover all avenues on this day. During the editing process, the footage was so monumental in the sense that everyone was together and enjoying each other’s love for MJ. I enjoyed the process of directing this Tribute video and feel honored to be a part of history.

Lupe Performs Michael Jackson Tribute

June 30, 2009

Here is a pretty cool video of Lupe FIasco performing a Michael Jackson tribute during his last concert at the Chicago Theatre in Chicago, Illinois. Check out the video below; I absolutely love it.

I must say that Lupe is one of the best performers I have ever had the privilege to see and his concert was amazing. I encourage you to check him out if he is ever near your area because he truly is not only an amazing artist, but also a phenomenal performer.

A Tribute To A King

June 26, 2009

Arguably one of the most prominent and influential musicians of our time, has just passed away today, so I wanted to just pay homage to the King of Pop. I know that by now most everyone on the planet knows about the sudden, tragic loss of Michael Jackson, but it is worth me acknowledging. Love him or hate him, no other single recording artist in present generations has had a greater impact on music, and I am about his music. RIP Michael Jackson.
