Howard Stern x Homosexuality

April 30, 2009

Though I am not a fan of the Howard Stern show, I do respect him because he says what he wants to, and I do think that this clip is worth listening to, really. For almost four full minutes, Howard Stern rants and raves about supporting and standing up for homosexuals. In my opinion, I would rather listen to Howard Stern on homosexuality than a pastor because, for the most part, Stern is the more correct one, biblically and socially. However, that is due to my stance that homosexuality is not a sin, either biblically or socially. Love and let live. Check out this video below.

My feeling about gay people is that we have a responsibility not only to make gay marriage acceptable and to make gays feel accepted as much as heterosexuals…Gay people are downtrodden. They are beaten. They are abused for their sexuality, and it goes across race. In the white community and the black community gay people are the bastards of the world. And in order for things to change, because any one of you could have gay children, or gay relatives, or gay friends…we have a responsibility to make this acceptable, to get all this bullshit so that some gay kid going to high school doesn’t get the shit beaten out of him just because he’s gay…I’m as heterosexual as they come. What is this hang-up about gay marriage? Who cares? Get on with your life!”

Kid Cudi x GreenJar

April 30, 2009

Yesterday I posted a site, GreenJar, for you all to check out. Green Jar is a website aimed for collaborating urban America with environmental protection and awareness.  GreenJar is an environmental lifestyle networking sit, the first of its kind actually, created to care the the urban youth of tomorrow. GreenJar is a free marketplace where ideas are encouraged to be exchanged and where voices are made to be heard with respect to growing concerns of our environment. GreenJar uses celebrities, artists, musicians, and athletes, among common folk, to use the medium they have been given to be a voice of awareness and change.

Below you will find Kid Cudi speaking 0n being environmentally friendly and how it is now lame, but actually cool. Watch the video below to hear Cudders on being green.

Here is a quote taken from their site, “Today is a fresh start to a new beginning, where we act as a community to keep ourselves informed and educated about what is going on in our world. Today we choose to be limitless in our efforts to gain more knowledge about ways we can make positive differences on the state of our environment. Today we control our fate.”

Damien Hirst x Requiem Exhibition

April 29, 2009

I love artist Damien Hirst and his artwork. I especially enjoy his more famous formaldehyde animal installations as well as his colorful “Spin” stlye paintings. Check out some of his artwork below that is found at the Requiem.

Damien Hirst

Last weekend saw the Damien Hirst’s first grand spectacle of 2009 when his daunting career retrospective “Requiem”opened at the Pinkchuk Art Center in the unlikely city of Kiev, Ukraine, which is not exactly known as an epicenter of fine art.

However, resident steel billionaire and obsessed Hirst collector Victor Pinchuk aims to change that by launching the epic visual spectacle that includes over 100 works, which mainly came from Pinchuk’s private collection, by the British artist from 1998 – 2008 in his own privately funded art palace that holds the title as the largest private museum in the former Soviet Union. The fact that this grandiose show of power comes at a time when the Ukraine is especially compromised economically as a result of the crippling global economic downturn seems to only heighten the poignancy of the show which includes a great number of pieces overtly—and quite graphically—devoted to the theme of the perverse effects of money and power.

Click below for some of Hirst’s work, it is amazing.

Nike Air Toki TZ

April 29, 2009

I get down with Nike. They do provide some of the illest shoes ever, especially high tops. These Nike Air Toki TZ’s go hard, especially since Nike switched out their leather to canvas. I love these pair of shoes because they are so simple, yet so dope. I love the all white sole with the all grey canvas upper.

Nike Air Toki TZ

Switching out their previous perforated leather offerings, for a canvas finish, Nike hits us with a look into the Air Sabaku/Blazer hybrid known as the Air Toki TZ. These Nikes are featured in two Spring-friendly colorways including a tonal light grey and pastel yellow offset by green accenting. Both are now available through atmos Japan although a worldwide roll-out should be expected soon.

Converse x John Varvatos

April 29, 2009

These are some pretty dope Converse, in my opinion. Low tops are beginning to really grow on me and I think that this is a pair of low tops that happen to be on the top of my list. The simplistic feel to these Converse mixed with the slip of effect mixed with the pointed toe equals a great pair of low top sneakers. I love ’em, especially the the white and cream colorway.Converse x John Varvatos

As part of their on-going collaboration with John Varvatos, Converse presents a nice new silhouette, the CVO Wingtip Slip. This low top sneaker comes without laces and has a slightly more pointy toe box than your usual pair of Converse sneakers. This sneaker comes in two canvas/suede versions and is now available here.

Also, click below to see more views of the Converse and to see an exclusive interview with the designer, John Varvatos.
